My Favorite Pencils

Conte a Paris Pencil

My favorite pencil is the Conte a Paris Pencil. It is durable and lets you take a razor to it to get a long shaft exposed for pulling these thick wide strokes. Then immediately draw delicate intricate lines.

Conte a Paris 1710 B specifically is my daily training tool along with the Smooth Newsprint.

Wolff’s Carbon 4B  (My second favorite Pencil)

A great alternative to the Conte a Paris pencil is the Wolff’s Carbon 4B. The Wolff’s Carbon is a smoother ride and many people prefer it over the Conte a Paris. It is softer however and we can not sharpen with as long of a shaft as on the Conte a Paris. I find the Wolff’s 4B to match up with the tone of the Conte a Paris 1710 B.
